All I Want for Christmas is…Books!

It’s no secret that my dream Christmas has Santa lugging a heavy-duty sack that can accommodate the significant weight of all the books on my Christmas list. Rudolph and his friends have to do extensive conditioning prior to flying to my house to make it in one trip. I’m confident that I’ve made it to the “Nice” list and I’m ready for Santa to pay up.

Christmas Day is another opportunity to sit next to the fireplace, drink heavily self-medicated egg nog and disappear into the crisp pages of a new novel. Here’s a list of books I’m anticipating from the big man himself.

Frostblood by Elly Blake

27827203.jpgSeventeen-year-old Ruby is a fireblood who must hide her powers of heat and flame from the cruel frostblood ruling class that wants to destroy all that are left of her kind. So when her mother is killed for protecting her and rebel frostbloods demand her help to kill their rampaging king, she agrees. But Ruby’s powers are unpredictable, and she’s not sure she’s willing to let the rebels and an infuriating (yet irresistible) young man called Arcus use her as their weapon.

All she wants is revenge, but before they can take action, Ruby is captured and forced to take part in the king’s tournaments that pit fireblood prisoners against frostblood champions. Now she has only one chance to destroy the maniacal ruler who has taken everything from her and from the icy young man she has come to love.

Fast-paced and compelling, Frostblood is the first in a page-turning new young adult three-book series about a world where flame and ice are mortal enemies—but together create a power that could change everything.

So Santa would have to pull some strings and bring me an ARC to get this on Christmas Day since it doesn’t release until January 10, 2017, but I’ll take a pre-order IOU in my stocking if I must. This YA Fantasy describes a world with fire and frost powers and a king’s tournament. I’m practically drooling on my keyboard in anticipation of this epic sounding story.

Rookie Move by Sarina Bowen

27190530The first novel in a sexy new series featuring the hockey players of the Brooklyn Bruisers and the women who win their hearts—from the USA Today bestselling author of the Ivy Years series.

In high school they were the perfect couple—until the day Georgia left Leo in the cold…

Hockey player Leo Trevi has spent the last six years trying to do two things: get over the girl who broke his heart, and succeed in the NHL. But on the first day he’s called up to the newly franchised Brooklyn Bruisers, Leo gets checked on both sides, first by the team’s coach—who has a long simmering grudge, and then by the Bruisers’ sexy, icy publicist—his former girlfriend Georgia Worthington.

Saying goodbye to Leo was one of the hardest things Georgia ever had to do—and saying hello again isn’t much easier. Georgia is determined to keep their relationship strictly professional, but when a press conference microphone catches Leo declaring his feelings for her, things get really personal, really fast….

As far as I’m concerned Sarina Bowen can do no wrong. I have loved every single one of the stories that she’s published. Even when I wasn’t sure about the premise, she still sucked me in with her masterful writing and unique characters. I’m hoping Santa brings me the entire Brooklyn Bruisers series because I’m a sucker for a Hockey romance and Sarina does it better than anyone else.

Mistborn: The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson

68428

In a world where ash falls from the sky, and mist dominates the night, an evil cloaks the land and stifles all life. The future of the empire rests on the shoulders of a troublemaker and his young apprentice. Together, can they fill the world with color once more?

In Brandon Sanderson’s intriguing tale of love, loss, despair and hope, a new kind of magic enters the stage — Allomancy, a magic of the metals.

I hear nothing but amazing things about Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn series and it’s been on my TBR list for a while. The size of this series is intimidating but my love for fantasy means I won’t give up until I try it. Having it on my shelf brings me one step closer to finally getting around to reading it.

American Queen by Sierra Simone

30314992It starts with a stolen kiss under an English sky, and it ends with a walk down the aisle. It starts with the President sending his best friend to woo me on his behalf, and it ends with my heart split in two. It starts with buried secrets and dangerous desires…and ends with the three of us bound together with a hateful love sharper than any barbed wire.

My name is Greer Galloway, and I serve at the pleasure of the President of the United States.
This is the story of an American Queen.

I’m not sure if this is an accurate representation, but American Queen screams the tv show Scandal to me and I can’t wait to devour it’s goodness. It has great reviews and I’m a huge sucker for a love triangle.

A Promise of Fire by Amanda Bouchet

27015399.jpgCatalia “Cat” Fisa is a powerful clairvoyant known as the Kingmaker. This smart-mouthed soothsayer has no interest in her powers and would much rather fly under the radar, far from the clutches of her homicidal mother. But when an ambitious warlord captures her, she may not have a choice…

Griffin is intent on bringing peace to his newly conquered realm in the magic-deprived south. When he discovers Cat is the Kingmaker, he abducts her. But Cat will do everything in her power to avoid her dangerous destiny and battle her captor at every turn. Although up for the battle, Griffin would prefer for Cat to help his people willingly, and he’s ready to do whatever it takes to coax her…even if that means falling in love with her.

I’ve had my eye on this Fantasy Romance for a while and I’m always down for an enemies-to-lovers romance. This book has rave reviews and Cat and Griffin sounds so shippable to me.

What about you? What’s on your Christmas list?
