Origin by Jennifer Armentrout

I’ve recently discovered the Lux series by Jennifer Armentrout and it’s my new obsession. I read the first four books in about a week, and now that I’m caught up, I have to wait in agony like the rest of the world to see what happens next.

I thought it a waste of time to write a review on each book. If you haven’t started this series (Beginning with Obsidian, Onyx and Opal), you need to. This series is a first-person female narrative about the everyday, ordinary girl that falls for the extraordinary guy. In this case, he’s extraterrestrial. The sexual tension is off the charts and the plot weaved throughout brings out the best and the worst in the characters, making you feel for them and understand their motives. Obviously, I’m a huge fan of Katy and Daemon but all the characters bring something of value to the story. I’m in love with these people. You will not be disappointed.

If you have read the series, Origin, the latest addition to the series was crazy good. (From this point on, there are spoilers for those who haven’t read to this point. You’ve been warned!)

13644052Daemon will do anything to get Katy back.

After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.

All Katy can do is survive.

Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?

Together, they can face anything.

But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on?

And will they even be together?

This book has destroyed me. The ending has squeezed my heart into a tiny, ball of mush, and I need the next book to get here already so I can recover. As I stated earlier, this series is amazing. This installment is not an exception. I will say that this book has upped the stakes. Armentrout takes some risks and does some really heartbreaking things. However, this book still has the characters we all know and love and the plot is as exciting as ever. The love between Katy and Daemon is still sigh-worthy and they are thrown a few more “mature’ curve balls in this book. I am a sucker for Daemon and his “I will destroy the world to find her” attitude.

Katy really grows in this book. She’s been taken and now she has to fight on her own. I loved seeing her work through her new situation but still never give up.

I love all of the mini-shout outs Armentrout gives regarding book blogging and other current Young Adult books. It brought a smile to my face.

I’m not even sure what else to say about this book. It was awesome. It was heartbreaking and what happens in this book changes everything. I’ll let the five stars speak for themselves. Read this series people! You won’t regret it.  The next book, Opposition, won’t be out until August 5, 2014.

STARS: 5 out of 5
